New Delhi, Apr 15: Railways yesterday on Apr 14 assured a national volleyball player Arunima a job, who lost her leg after being thrown out from a running train near Barelli on Monday.
Railway Board Chairman Vivek Sahai said – “We are extending all help for her rehabilitation which include a suitable job in railway,” on April 11, 23-year-old Arunima was pushed from the Padmavat Express in Bareilly by three men. This incident took place between Chenati and Bareilly railway stations when she was travelling to Gautam Buddha Nagar to appear in a CISF recruitment examination.
“Mamata Banerjee (Railway Minister) has expressed her regret regarding this unfortunate accident and has provided all financial assistance for giving adequate to her,” Sahai said.
The Railways has formed a four-member team to inquire into the incident. Sahai also said that Railways would bear all her treatment cost including providing a prosthetic leg.
